Little Piper is an adorable belge Affen girl who began her life in a very bad place. Even though she never knew a kind touch, she has a very positive attitude now! She is happy, playful, affectionate and loves to curl up on a friendly lap or sit next to you on the sofa! Piper is 9 years old, which is still young for an Affen and weighs about 12 lbs. She loves meal times and will eat everyone else's food if she gets a chance. Likewise, she adores treats such as cheese and even some vegetables!
Sweet Piper is very active and looks and plays like a puppy! She loves toys, and collects them on her favorite dog bed. She will also "collect" socks and other clothing if you leave them within her reach! As long as she has the opportunity to go outside every 3 hours, she is reliably housetrained. She does not like to go outside when the weather is particularly windy, cold or wet and will use a puppy pad if necessary. Piper will bark when something appears threatening (like the vacuum), but is usually fairly quiet. Piper is also crate trained, but prefers to sleep in bed with her people at night.
Piper needs a home with a very securely fenced yard and hopes that her forever person won’t need to leave her alone for more than 3 hours at a time. She enjoys spending time in her yard on nice days and sunning herself on the deck or patio. Piper is also fascinated by small critters and will try to hunt them. This is a natural Affenpinscher trait and she likes to keep her yard free of mice, chipmunks, squirels, rabbits and other small creatures.
Piper is often reserved till she gets to know strangers, and gets along well with other dogs. She would do well as an only dog or with a canine companion. We have not observed her behavior with cats. Piper is healthy, heart worm negative, spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations and is being fostered near Chicago.
Piper has been adopted in the Chicago area and has a lovely new home with a woman and a Cairn Terrier.
